Not willing to spend $600 for the Canon 18-200 IS, but distrustful of the Sigma/Tamron 18-200s that have a max aperture of 6.3 at the tele end, I found that what I really wanted was something like the ol' 28-200 I used to carry on my film cameras.That's when I picked up the non-OS version of this lens, and loved it.
